Batteries
What
are Batteries?
Batteries
used to store energy supply which can be used later on. They
are electrochemical cells. Different places used different
kinds of batteries. There are batteries used by cell phones,
batteries for the cars. Laptops have also another type of
battery for its exclusive use. Battery is an electrical system
that used a combination of cells since electrochemical cells
are of different types.
Different
types of Batteries
Batteries
come in two different types. First: the primary battery; second
is secondary battery. Disposable battery is also called primary
battery. The rechargeable battery is also known as the secondary
battery. The conversion of the chemical energy into electrical
energy takes place in both primary and secondary batteries.
The electrical energy is what electronics consumed in the
battery. There is a simple difference between disposable and
rechargeable batteries. Disposable batteries are no longer
usable after a specific period of time because the battery
has become lower in terms of energy supply therefore needs
replacement. The rechargeable battery on the other hand can
continue to charge it therefore can be used again and again
for a longer period.
Batteries
gained Popularity
Over
the years, batteries have gained its reputation of being an
indispensable partner of many if not all electronic devices.
Its popularity started in 1800 when technological development
experience explosion. Consequently, the demand for the use
of battery has increased significantly over a period of time
because batteries started to assumed responsibility as the
source of energy consumption. At present, almost all electronics
are using battery system and for a longer use, rechargeable
batteries are preferred. Cameras, cam coder and gold cart
also use batteries.
Working
Batteries
Earlier,
it was mentioned that there are two main categories for the
purpose of classifying batteries. But if the discussion is
about how primary and secondary batteries work, it is observed
that the chemical energy will go through a reversible transfer
into the electrical energy. However, if the energy experiences
gradient or difference dwells between the two poles of the
battery, the conversion of energy therefore the battery needs
to be replaced by a new one. While the secondary battery,
during the conversion the charges are reversed again and again
to keep a gradient.
There
is a variation when using both systems which is dependent
so much on the type of the device using the system such as
batteries used in telegraphs and the chargeable ones are used
with huge work so that it will be economical. Secondary batteries
made use of a sign or display signal to show that it is charging.
The process of conversion of the chemical energy into electrical
energy used different types of chemicals. This conversion
takes place in the two terminals of the battery: the negative
and positive terminals. The working of the battery continues
until the two poles of the battery are provided with the same
gradient of the negative and positive charges. Batteries are
available in the market in different forms, types and also
in different brands such as batteries plus and AA batteries.
